    I think I wanna become a hairdresser...?

What are some of the qualities you should have, or talents you should have?

I cut my own hair, and I really like doing my hair, I do it even when its like 12 at night.

What else do you have to do other than cut and style hair, wash and dry hair and sweep up hair?I think I wanna become a hairdresser...?
Hey Baby, So you want to become a hairdresser? That's great!! Well first of all you have to be a people person... you have to be willing to talk and engage the client, if your shy this might not be a field for you. Being creative is also a plus... a lot of clients will tell you to do what you think its best so if you have a little creativity in you it will take you a long way. There is a lot more to hair then just cutting it and styling it... there's of course COLOR!! Which is my favorite thing to do. Foil highlights are very popular right now and that's where the money is in this business. If you can get color down and are great at making formulations you will go far. You can also learn how to do hair extensions which are gaining popularity as well. There is also relaxers, perms and waxing... you can do so much with a cosmetology license. The possibilities are endless.... I hope some of this information helps you in making a decision about entering the beauty industry... take care!!!I think I wanna become a hairdresser...?
your very welcome.. and know that this is a great field to be into.. there is nothing like making america beautiful one person at a time!!!

Be prepared to make little money at first. If you live in a small town you will probably have to commute to work. Doing hair has alot of advantages but it isn't as glamorous as you think. You can always get your hair done fro free by your friends who do hair. You also have to put up with people who think you are a magician and can make them look like Angelina Jolie. Develop a thick skin and try to watch more experienced hairstylists. Everyone has their own style of doing hair and you will find your own.
Well, whether you work under someone or start your own business, working at a salon, I would think...would require creativity, and a sense of fashion and...most importantly communication so you can get a feel of what your clients want. I would also learn how to do makeup and/or nails, like spa-ish things...definetly something you might run into at a salon!
You also have to have a creative personality that isnt like something just anyone can think about. You have to know to express yourself through the hair you cut but still give what the customer wants. All and all its all about creativity and neatness. Speed is also important but you get that from experience. I think considering what you like doing your well on ur way to becomming a hairstylist :)
well, i know that you have to be in school for a year or 2.

when your in 12 grade, you can go into the salon, and shadow..

or they might let you be a shampoo person, and help with the iron's and sweep the floor.
Well, you'd probably need creativity, an eye for detail, and flexibility. Also, know different styles people would want. (:

Hairdresser cut my hair on a middle part!!!!??? help?

i got a haircut the other day and usually i hav a right side part. but the hairdresser parted it to the middle b4 cutting it. i also got layers. and when i got home and reparted it to the right, there are like abillion layers on the left and it looks cute. but on the left there are like no layers. it looks way uneven. what do i do???Hairdresser cut my hair on a middle part!!!!??? help?
Go back and see if the hair dresser and make it look more even. If she can't, maybe you can try parting it diagonally instead of simply straight back.. Make sense? What I'm trying to say is, part your hair on right, but don't go straight back. Instead, go diagonally to the left, starting from the right. That way, you will have some layers on the right side. I hope this helps. Hairdresser cut my hair on a middle part!!!!??? help?
mine did that ,try putting ur right side parting a little closer to the middle and wait for it to grow a bit and add a bit more to make it ur usual parting and get it cut and tell them about ur parting and how u want it.
..dont worry of how it looks, to me it sounds great!! part it to however you want, to the side or whatever..if you like it than leave it
Go back to the salon and tell her to layer the other side....Next time, Tell the hairstylist, You want your hair parted to the side.
You can always get it re-cut, but I think if you straighten it and barely flip some of the layers out, it should look ok.
Your hairdresser is stupid, she should have asked before she did it.
mines sorta like that. no worries it looks nice

    Question for a hairdresser?

I have pretty stick straight hair, and I want to create some wave/curl in it. I am going to get a perm, but what should I tell the hairdresser I want (a body wave, etc.)? What size rollers should they use?Question for a hairdresser?
I鈥檇 take a step farther back and instead of telling your stylist you want a perm, tell them what you want your hair to do and then discuss the options. I know stylists who won鈥檛 even consider giving a perm because they know it鈥檚 a waste of their time and your money.

If you have long hair (I鈥檓 talking beyond shoulder length), you鈥檒l get as much benefit from flushing your money down the crapper as you will from paying for a perm because the curl won鈥檛 hold. The weight of your hair will cancel out the texture. What you generally end up with is a curl that鈥檚 tight at the bottom, but loose at the top and the disparity gets worse over time (this is true of any but the shortest hair).

Even better, as your hair grows, you鈥檒l end up with a definitive line where your hair goes from curly-ish to bone straight. So you are either committed to repeating the process every 6 weeks or so, daily straightening once regrowth starts, or wearing funny looking hair.Question for a hairdresser?
ok well if your doing a perm then there gonna know what to use...you can also go to the drug store after your perm and buy certin products to keep the curl....and it depends what kind of curls you want you have to let them know like if you want the tight spiral cirls or barrel curls...they r gonna know what to do
i think a pro. hair dresser could figure it out. you cant just go in there and take over. theres a difference between asking for something and bossing for it.

How to describe this hairstyle to a hairdresser tomorrow?

I need a bit more detailHow to describe this hairstyle to a hairdresser tomorrow?
I agree with everyone else that printing the picture and showing it to your hairdresser is a good idea.

Just remember that if they have a lot of experience they may tell you that no matter how simple it looks it may not be the best choice for you - because of your your hair or your face shape or whatever other reason.

If you trust your hairdresser ask them to help you choose something that would have the same feeling.

Looks good though, I like it :-)

Print out a picture and take it in. This will only work if you are going to a higher end salon. If you are going to a place like GreatCuts or Supercuts don't bother getting the haircut you want. They don't do anything right.
Don't be shy, just bring the picture to show the hairdresser tomorrow...(it's much more safer you know...), in case you describe the hairstyle wrongly and you do not get the kind of style you want. It would be really disappointing
the best thing you could do is take the picture to show

your hairdresser. sure, it seems like a weird thing to do but

it really isn't an uncommon thing.
Definitely bring the Picture this way your hairstylist will know exactly what you want and mean.. That haircut would be difficult to explain in person with no visual.. i should know I'm a hairstylist
Tell them you want a brush cut (number 2) and you want the same make up the model is wearing.
The computer I'm using right nwo refuses to load the image, but why not print it out and brnig it with you?

  • What do you look for in a hairdresser?

How are you suppose to 'look for something in a hairdresser' when you haven't met her yet %26amp; to only assume that she does good work because she works in an expensive dept. store salon isn't necessarily so.

I look at the end result of someone's work, and take it from there, as a previous experience was a nightmare!

Last week, I was having a ';garage sale'; %26amp; a lady walked in %26amp; her hairstyle caught my eye, immediately I thought that her hair style was something that I would like, I told this lady how much I liked her hair, %26amp; how cute it looked. She told me that she had just had it done %26amp; then I asked her where she went %26amp; who did the work! I went there the next day! It only cost me $10.00 [plus tip] at a Fantastic Sam's a few miles away. The hairdresser was fast, %26amp; my hair turned out wonderful, %26amp; exactly what I wanted! Whispy!

About 2 months earlier I had spent $178.00 at a mall dept store salon, that left me totally exasperated! as I couldn't do anything with my hair for 3 weeks, no kidding! The stylist at the dept store salon was going thru a horrendus divorce, %26amp; I believe the negative vibes got into the hair cutting, as she kept talking, %26amp; talking, %26amp; cutting, %26amp; cutting!!! I was getting nervous! OMG !!! I was not a happy victim.

I look at the end result of the ARTIST, It is a very simple thing to do, %26amp; worked for me! (People are genuinely appreciative of a compliment, especially if it gets them noticed!) I hope this helps! What do you look for in a hairdresser?
Well, as a guy she has to be young, hot and in her 20s then I trust that she will do good job and also hot too look atWhat do you look for in a hairdresser?
Some one man or woman who is willing to do what I want, not what they want, Remeber you are paying them to cut your hair!

I like funky people who aren't afraid of using different colors and cuts with me, I am a funky person with my hair, I love being the guniea pig when it comes to hair. That is my personalty. Right now I have short spiky hair, hell I would shave it all off! I have good reasons for it too!

some one who can give you a good haircut. So that your hair grows out looking good all the time till the next cut.
To knows what style is good for my shape of the face
That's she can cut hair lol, but also that she has been for a long time and so is very experienced with whatever style you choose.

Hair help? Hairdresser's advice would be very lovely?

Okaay, so I have dark brown hair(naturally) and I've highlighted it a lot over the passed three years. I really want it dark brown again, with no highlights and then I wanna go from there and kinda start over cause it's too light now and I'm mistaken for a dirty blonde. So my question is, will it ruin my hair because I remember someone saying something about you can't bleach hair that's been bleached already?

    So umm, help please!

Thanks so mucho much!Hair help? Hairdresser's advice would be very lovely?
if you darken your hair its best not to turn around and re-highlight....if your hair is just to dark then think about adding some low-lightsHair help? Hairdresser's advice would be very lovely?
well one of my friends hair was brown then she highlighted blonde then she die color her whole hair black

umm you should go to the salon and ask the person that do highlights and stuff
if your going to dye your hair brown then thats not bleaching it. Ovcourse you can dye your hair again, but just make sure that you go to a professional if you want it done properly.
You may risk frying your hair, if you do so go the bleaching route. MAKE SURE you get Neutral protein filler, to protect your hair from damage.

of her long hair. Her hair is so long, she didn't feel it, and I don't think that she will notice it right away.

Actually she probably noticed it this morning when she got up and did her hair.

Do you think she will suspect that I did it?

She knew I was not entirely pleased with the haircut, but I did not say much about it and gave her a decent tip, and was nice to her - until she turned her back.New hairdresser really messed up my hair ... when she turned around, I grabbed the shears and clipped a chunk?
i love you, thats just awsome, i had a women before totally mutilate my hair. i cried after she was done. i give you a pat on the back my friend. Thats just awsomeNew hairdresser really messed up my hair ... when she turned around, I grabbed the shears and clipped a chunk?
I can't believe you still gave her a tip!
    i am scared of you!
If you weren't entirely pleased you should of ask someone else to fix it. You can always fix a haircut. It might of not been what you were looking for but hair grows a half an inch every month, so you hair would of been fine. As i am a cosmetologist myself i can assure you that she noticed within 15 minutes. Or someone else seen and will tell her it was you. My advice would be to find a hairdresser that has experience someone other people go to. Go to a salon that has a good rep.
That was a horrible, childish way to deal with the situation. You should have expressed your honest displeasure with the haircut and talked to the owner of the establishment about having another stylist fix it. You should have not paid for the haircut or tipped, if it was a bad job. Cutting her hair could probably be viewed as a crime if she decided to pursue it.
that was silly.better have not tipped and never go back!
that is such a childish way to deal with the haircut, you know she could have you arrested for assault, if she finds out that was you...what good did that do? I am sure she didnt intentionally mess up your hair, its probably not even messed up...you mellodramatic clients, i swear....why would you tip her, if you didnt like it..as far as her suspecting you...why are you worried now? you should have thought about that when you did it? i am surprised she didnt catch a glimpse in the mirror., or even feel it when you did it....and not being ';entirely pleased'; is along way away from the haircut being so bad it is worth going to jail for... or the hospital.......you really shouldnt tell people you did that, because you will get known about in salons in the area, and people will refuse to do your hair.

all i can say is that i am a hairstylist and salon owner, and you just better be glad you didnt do that to me.
Oh come on... grow up and stop posting bs on Yahoo Answers.

Ways you can tell this isn't real:

She posted the ';question'; more than once.. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>
I think that your a coward and a sneak if your not happy with the service you call the owner over and tell him to take a look at the work his hairdresser did . Then you tell him you are not happy and you are not going to pay and that he better do something to fix this mess . You don't attack someone with a sharp object that is assault with a deadly weapon and if someone happened to be passing by and bumped into you when you were in the act of cutting the hair and the shears happened to cut someone you could be charge with assault .

So let see one bad haircut $15.00 plus tip

    You have serious issues.
All I can say is that what goes around, comes around- if you were not happy you should speak up and ask her to fix the problem, not take it out on her and cut her hair, shame on you!
You do realize that she can get after you if she discovers you did it don't you?

Any hairdresser's out there? Leaving conditioner on my hair.?

Does it do any harm to comb hair conditioner into my dry hair in the afternoon and leave it overnight? I don't have time in the morning to wash and condition, so i just wash it. I have done it for a couple of days but is it ok? Thanks a lot.Any hairdresser's out there? Leaving conditioner on my hair.?
It won't do any good, unless it's a leave-in conditioner. Leaving regular conditioner in your hair will only result in oily hair and scalp that attracts dirt, dust, lint, etc. Rinse out all of the conditioner.

Or when your in a hurry, use a shampoo with conditioner, or put a little conditioner in your shampoo, or probably the best thing would be is to invest in a good leave-in that you can spray on and comb through with a wide-toothed comb. :-)Any hairdresser's out there? Leaving conditioner on my hair.?
I'm not a hair dresser, but absolutally! This should really put your hair in good condition!
Problem is you'll eventually end up with a build up that will leave your hair looking dry %26amp; dull. Why not wash ii in the morning then use a spray on conditioner during the week. On the weekend you can deep condition.
no it can make it to where you have really oily hair and scalp. it'll take a while to do this but when it does... there's no turing back. Your hair will start to look dirty and oily y noon everyday. TRUST ME!
Well certainly its not bad. It might change your hair, but Idk. There are now leave-in conditioners so try one of them.
    sounds a crazy idea!!

wash hair then condition and rinse immediately with cool water!

no need to leave conditioner on at all

it only takes a few seconds to add conditioner and then rinse

the shops only leave it on so they can do other hair whilst you sit there and then they can justify their huge bill
You shoul wash your hair before conditioning it because shampoo takes you natural oils out of your hair and conditioner puts them back in but there is no harm in leving conditioner in overnight but only wash your hair every other day
Hi not to be funny but by the time you have put conditioner on your hair un the afternoon you could of washed and conditioned it and dried it. But if your going to do this use a leave in conditioner and it wont damage your hair as much, It doesnt take long and my do you only have to do it in the morning. Why when you get in from work dont you wash and condition before you go to bed. It will still be washed in the morning. It doesnt take long to wash your hair and condition.
It won't do any harm, but it won't do any good either. Most ';instant'; conditioners are just that, they are made to be put on and rinsed out immediately. It shouldn't take any extra time in the morning. The purpose of conditioner is to balance pH, detangle, and smooth out the cuticle of the hair after shampooing. If you need extra help with dry hair, I would recommend a once or twice weekly treatment or mask that is designed to be left in for a longer period of time. If you have color-treated hair, just make sure the treatment you use is formulated for color-treated hair because heavy conditioners can actually contribute to color fading.
Leaving conditioner in my hair makes it feel really greasy and horrible.

I wouldnt recommend doing it tbh.
now i would never leave conditioner in my hair, it would be a pure grease ball.

now what i recommend you is go to a hair salon, i know its expencive, but the salon products like, joico, kms, and swartscofft,(i think i spelt it wrong lol sorry)

are very good for you hair, get shampoo and conditioner, plus hair serum, trurt me it works

  • UK. A Moslem woman is suing because a hairdresser would not give her a job.?

She wanted to wear her headdress and the hairdresser refused. Should she have got the job based on merit?UK. A Moslem woman is suing because a hairdresser would not give her a job.?
No, I wouldn't go to a hairdresser if I couldn't see her hair to check that it wasn't dodgy, so it's totally reasonable that the salon owner wouldn't hire her. I think it's rediculous that she's sued this salon owner, when a total of 25 salons turned her down, so it's hardly this salon's fault that she doesn't have a job. She's just on the make!

Also, I'm not convinced that it's religious discrimination to refuse to hire someone who wears a headscarf. The Koran says that women should dress modestly but doesn't mention covering the hair. Covering hair is a cultural thing, so this could be described as cultural descrimination, but not religious discrimination.UK. A Moslem woman is suing because a hairdresser would not give her a job.?
The harsh reality is that hairdressers have to deal with the public, and if the public respond negatively to an employee's appearance then it's going to lose the business money. It's all well and good for us to sit here and judge the owner, but really we're the ones at fault. It's because society as a whole is racist and bigoted that many Muslim women are refused jobs like that one. We can't expect business owners to employ people that many of their customers are likely to be prejudiced against. It's not nice, and it's not fair, but in that sort of job merit simply isn't enough.
Her getting the job should be based on her abilities as a hairdresser.

That's not just cutting hair, but also interacting and relating to clients.

If she has been refused ONLY because of her religion, she has a point. If she was refused because she wasn't the best candidate then it's a case of sour grapes, methinks!
whats a Moslem? Another MUSLIM kicking up a stink for no good reason that's what!
This is a job where appearance is everything.

Most women check out the hair of the people working

in the salon. It gives them some idea of how good it is

as they usualy do each others hair.

She could be a wonderful hairdresses for all I know, but she

would need to build up a reputation first, how she will do that

without anyone offering her a job I don't know.

These muslim women don't half give themselves a hard time

    don't they.
I applied for a job and they said they were looking for only women. I think he was a dirty pervert. However I think the owner should be allowed to chose who she employs as it is a free country. I cant stand seeing people in that headgear. Why do they need it. When in rome you should do as the romans do. Our women are not allowed out in their country without headwear so why shouldnt they have to abide by our rules. There is too much pc ness in this country. We aresupposed to have free speech etc but it is only free if you are a muslim or an illegal immigrant.
non Muslim women living in Muslim countries are forced to wear headdress,so why can';t Muslims respect other countries way of life instead of trying to bring with them all their rules and traditions
I wouldn't have my hair touched, never mind cut by a faceless person.
If you own a business why can not you choose who you want to work for you, tell her to p off, It's your business.
I see no reason why people should be persecuted based on their beliefs. Sounds fair to me.
If the head scarf was listed as the reason she did not getthe job that is an issue but if it realy is her skill as a hairdresser that is an other storry. Tolerance is a two way street, if I need to respect Mohamed and Hafsa Muslim's rights to practice Islam peacefuly

if I want them to respect my rights to practice Christianity peacefuly or some one else's rights to practice no religion.
No. The rule for the staff there is that they have to show their hair. If people have religious beliefs they should not be able to impose them on others. She is not able to meet the requirements of her employer by covering her hair. If my religion said that I had to wear a large pair of micky mouse ears, then I would have to expect that to prevent me from finding a job where micky mouse ears would be frond appon. I would have to accept that.
A previous question has already been asked like this. And she should have got the job based on merit. if people are fighting for being judged on who they are and they judging others by the way they look then do you really expect the world to move foward? She was refused a job because of her religious beliefs, the government has stated this is wrong and she has all rights to sue, so if people have an issue with it its more with the issue that was a muslim.
Sounds like double standards to me!

She wants to earn money from cutting hair to make it look good for people who don't wear a headdress, but at the same time covers her hair because she doesn't believe in women showing their hair.
I was at my hairdressers the other day, she said that if she comes in with less than perfect hair they get sent home to do it as it is advertising what they do.

In an industry where looks are what keeps it going, I'm not sure merit alone should do it.

If a company rule is ';No headwear'; then a religion shouldn't be allowed to override this.
what do these freaks expect, next interview i am gonna turn up in a wooky mask and bring them to court if they do not give me the job.
If you want a job - you abide with the job's dress code. So no she should not have got it.
No. She has no merit as the hairdresser has said she needs the stylists to show their hair as an indication of the shops ability and skill.

Why has this woman not sued the previous 25 shops that turned her down? Probably for the same reason.

Do you think she would campaign for a man to measure her for a new bra?

The headscarf has already been shown in courts on several occasions as not required by religious law.

It is about time that this sort of prosecution should be recognised as being racist in it's own right in that it seeks to force employers to hire them rather than others and in breach of the employers legitimate terms of employment!!!
I'd have to see her cut hair before I can answer this question.

A good hairdresser that thins hair?

hi, im looking for a good hairdresser who thins out hair, i have thick curly hair and really want it thinned but i dont want to go somewhere thats bad. but preferably in kellyville / castle hill / rouse hill

any information, even about thinning hair is appreciated.

thanks heaps!A good hairdresser that thins hair?
There are different ways of thinning hair and you have to tell your stylist exactly what you want. Do you want only your ends thinned or from the root to the end or do you want your hair thinned with like a razor which is really thinned out! I would reccomend thinning it with the razor thing it is kind of painful but it's worth it because the hair is so thinner and easier to manage but still long!

  • When my hairdresser does my highlights i still have about 1/2cm dark line of root? Why? am i gettin ripped off?

No, you are not getting ripped off and no we don't want you to come in sooner. Sometimes, if a thin enough section is not taken that can happen. Also sometimes the foils slip. Bleach is really not supposed to touch the scalp so hairdressers are careful about that too. But if he/she is good, they will be able to get it as close as possible. Now, if you are talking cap-talk to my hand. I don't do cap unless your hair is less than 2';. Longer hair how can you possibly pull a longer strand and hope it is coming directly from around the hole you are pulling it through. You could be pulling it from 3'; away. Therefore with that you will have roots still. But I try to take thinner sections especially around the hairline in front. Remember, we are not miracle providers. Only helping nature along and if you are that unhappy about thinking that we only want you back sooner, you should tell us that when you sit in our chair about your results the last time you were in. We won't know until you tell us OR you don't come back. We really DO want to make our clients satisfied. When my hairdresser does my highlights i still have about 1/2cm dark line of root? Why? am i gettin ripped off?
you obviously have quite dark hair and are probably one of those clients that sit in the mirror and pull you hair flat to your head either side of your parting and spot a minicule half centimetre of natural hair colour!!!!!! Very irritating for us stylists that stand there for an hour or more putting the foils in for you. Unless you have any knowledge of chemical swelling i suggest you either go natural or stop moaning. When my hairdresser does my highlights i still have about 1/2cm dark line of root? Why? am i gettin ripped off?
no it's better for your roots
in my opinion you actually are not actually your hair dresser is trying to keep from causing major breakage to your hair bcuz dye and color actually damages your hair in ways you wouldnt even think about.
yes, they should be able to get right down to the roots; make sure they are using foils and not a cap as you get a better results
They do it to make your hair look more natural. You are not getting ripped off, I promise.
I presume you mean they're using Easi-mesh / foils? Sadly, the old fashioned method of pulling the hair through a rubber cap is the only way to get really close to the scalp without damaging you!
    happens here too,

think they want you to go back sooner
Listen i go to a hairdresser too and i dont come out like that so yes i think you are getting ripped off find a new
because foils arnt done directly on the scalp. you should tell them next time becasue a lot of hairdressers i find just do what suits them, they charge a lot of money so make sure you are happy!
It depends whether they use a cap or foils. You will never get to the root using a cap - that is common sense as the cap is about 1 - 2 cm thick.

You get closer to the root with foils, but it still wont get all your hair as if they go to the root - it smudges onto your other hair.
Most hairdressers do that, because of the bleach burning your scalp. I have the same problem, and it really really bugs me, so when I go to the hairdressers now, I make sure I tell them to get so close to my head, even if it burns me slightly, which it has done, but it heals, and I don't have a horrible root.

Your not being ripped off, they are just being careful, in case you sue them or something.
no you are not getting riped off being a stylist myself i have to tell you that the reason that the dark roots are left is because if the bleach is applied to the scalp it can burn or bleed into the other hair because as it processes it swells and can leave ugly spots through out your hair the roots must be left for your safety and your hairs i hope this helps

Maybe a hairdresser or ';shampoo'; expert can help me with this. Schwarzkopf question!!?

When I was in college (about 11 years ago) Schwartzkopf had a shampoo that was in an orange bottle (tall skinny bottle with small flip up nozzle). It smelled absolutely fantastic. It was heavily scented. It smelled almost like the Brilliant Brunette shampoos but a little more fragrant. I cannot find this anywhere, I'm sure it's discontinued but what the heck was the name of it?? Was it the old bonacure? Can someone help me??Maybe a hairdresser or ';shampoo'; expert can help me with this. Schwarzkopf question!!?

    Is this it?

(scroll down on the page.) :)Maybe a hairdresser or ';shampoo'; expert can help me with this. Schwarzkopf question!!?
I hope you get an answer because Schwarzkopt is a brilliant line of hair product...I am a former stylist, but have been inactive for 20 years and the product line would have changed...good luck!

So im dying my hair......its already blonde (done in the foils by the hairdresser and quite blonde)?

now i need it re-doin iv got a work interview and i cant afford the hair dreser and my roots r down to my eye balls :-$...what the best colourant to get i want it platinum blonde or as close as i can by doing it by myself...ne1 no if Clairol nice n easy ultra light blonde is any good? or is there anythin better!!!!So im dying my hair......its already blonde (done in the foils by the hairdresser and quite blonde)?
DON'T DO IT! You could ruin your hair and it will have to grow out, or be cut off. I was thinking of doing the same thing and did a lot of research.

If you have foil 'highlighting' which uses color and bleach, that is NOT the same as having just a color, which is what they sell in beauty supply stores or department stores. They say not to put a color (dye) over bleached hair.

If your hair is a medium to dark brown hair, it's more of a problem. If you have light brown hair you might be able to dye your roots only somehow, but I wouldn't put color over the highlighted bleach areas.

There is a 'root touch up' you can buy.

Also, ask your hairdresser for your 'recipe'. When I moved my hairdresser wrote down the formula she uses for my foil highlighting to give to my next salon. I looked it up online to see what she used, so you could find out how much color you have and how much bleach.

Good luck! I wish the highlighting were not so expensive too!

Types of fringes........Need help hairdresser doesnt understand?

Every time i ask for a really big side fringe i show the hairdresser what i mean, she just gives me the smallest cut, like 50 strands of hair.

What types of fringes are there that are really common?

hmm, a really big side fringe isnt very discriptive haha,

i recommend finding a picture of the fringe you want.

try magazines, google, maybe a photo of a friends hair? try hair dressing magazines too.

My daughter is a hairdresser and at the salon there are millions of hairdressing magazines piled up , your salon probably also has them , look through them til you find what you want and then as she cuts stay in control , if necessary directing her on what to do. If that fails go to another hairdresser.

Maybe you could show her a picture of Rihanna's hair cut, and then show (using the picture) how you would like to alter it. Tell her you do not want it that short. Do not feel obliged to ask it in one question, hairdressers want to give you what you want, so take all the time you need to describe it to her! :)

If you were in Caterphilly in Wales, I may be able to research one for you, seeing as we have something in common.

Most Scots though wouldn't blowdry a pussy(cat) due to cost implications and the risk of static on their sporrans, so why you ask is beyond me.

I think your cat is more than capable of licking his own grey bits, despite his chavvy attitude, and that it would save you money in the long run if you bought him a Burberry Cat Hat instead.
    seriously?
    use spray paint.

Do you tip your hairdresser? Why or why not?

No I do not. My hairdresser works out of her house and I know she keeps 100% of what I pay her...and trust me, she gets paid good.Do you tip your hairdresser? Why or why not?
of course i do, my hair dresser comes to my house and does my hair she also works at a real salon but since i am in a wheelchair she knows its difficult for me to go to her hair salon, she charges me 20 bucks and i give her 25 its only right to tip someone if they do a good job. just as you would tip at a restaurant. just because it is expensive does not mean you don't tip them thats just weird and not right. good service deserves a good tip.Do you tip your hairdresser? Why or why not?
Personally I don't because my hairdresser is my girlfriend and she does it for free. But I think that people should really tip their hairdresser. My girlfriend started working in a salon as soon as she got her license which was about 3 months after she graduated her program and high school. So when she got out of school she was no longer on her parents health insurance. So now she has no health insurance and is struggling to build a clientel. She only makes 50% percent commission and she can work and eight hour day and only make 30 bucks.

This is not a wage that you can live off of! Hairdressers work hard for their money and many of the young stylists are still struggling to pay off their schooling. So every little bit helps.
Actually, they don't make a hell of a lot more than you do, you just think that. Tips for hairdressers are absolutely proper and deserved when you get a good cut. Ten to fifteen percent of the cost is the usual tip. If you can't afford to do it, just don't. They will understand. But don't expect them to squeeze you in for an emergency or make multiple appointment changes, either. It works both ways in the service industry.

    Auntie Kookoo
There are jobs where tipping is expected and/or acceptable. Hair styling is one of them.

Trust me, if you do not keep your hair stylist happy, they can really do damage to your hair, can't they? But even so, tipping should not be considered any sort of bribe, but an extra, MEANINGFUL, ';thank you'; for a job WELL done.

In most hair salons, the stylists RENT their ';chairs'; from the owner of the salon. Do you know how MUCH of their fee that the owner charges? I have heard in some salons that the stylist pays the owner 50% of their charges for the privilege of renting that chair in that salon!

That means that if your stylist charges you $20 for a simple haircut (cheap by any means!) they retain only $10 for their own expenses, and turn over the other $10 to the salon owner.

And what has to come out of that $10 they keep? Their:

--- TAXES... they are not employees of the salon owner, but a sub-contractor, which means that THEY THEMSELVES have to pay THEIR OWN income taxes, Social Security Income tax, SELF-EMPLOYMENT tax... etc etc. Or don't you realize that?

--- BUSINESS EXPENSES/Tools: Yes, as Independent Contractors, they must provide their own ';hardware';... combs, brushes, aprons, etc... anything the salon does not contain (sink, dryer, chair).

--- FOOD/HOUSING/GAS/UTILITIES/ETC.: Well.. they have to EAT don't they? Along with all their other living expenses.... electricity, heat, rent/mortgage, whatever they need to LIVE!

Well... after all these things, that doesn't leave much leftover for...

--- PROFIT: Well? Doesn't the person have a RIGHT to ANY PROFIT? This IS a CAPITALIST economy, right?

That meager $10 has to stretch a LONG way before it starts to cover the food on the table much less a profit for their work! WHY should anyone begrudge that tip... ESPECIALLY if they have EARNED it by doing a GOOD JOB? Wouldn't YOU like to get a RAISE if you do a GOOD JOB?

    Have a polite day.
No I stopped tipping. I think they should include it in the price. It is expensive enough. I use to tip though. I pretty much stopped tipping anyone. I think the only person I would give a tip to would be someone carrying my bags at an airport.
yes. do you like your hair cut nice? why should she go the extra mile if she's not going to get tipped? you get good service when you tip.
Yes, of course! She's very pleasant and she does a great job. I always tip her more than the standard 20%.
    Yes, it's called incentive.
I tip everyone who does work for me.
No, I don't. I usually go to the same hair salon or braid shop because of it's proximity (I don't drive), so I am forced to deal with the poor service.

At both of these places the stylist are usually late. The woman that braids my hair almost always shows up late. I will set an appointment for 9:30 am and then she will show up a half an hour to an hour and a half late.

At the hair salon I went to the stylist would try to do two people's hair at once, which definitely makes the time spent in the salon much longer than what it has to be.

I never gives tips when getting my hair done, because the service is just never all that good.

    Looking for a good hairdresser?

I'm looking for a good hair saloon that have reasonable prices.. I want to look fab on New Years Eve:)Looking for a good hairdresser?

I'm having a similar problem! I was wanting a new something, style or color, so I did one of those virtual makeovers online. I finally found something I love but don't know how to tell the hairdresser. What do I do print out the picture and say this is what I want to look like?! lol

Although Audrina just has some highlights so take the picture and say you like the color of her highlights and have them match it up.

Can I get infected with HIV at the salon (hairdresser)?

Question pertains to use of razor. Can I get infected with HIV at the salon (hairdresser)?
Very Very Unlikely. You would have to cut the person with HIV and then immediately cut yourself with the same razor. HIV can only live outside the human body for a few seconds to a minute so just make sure you clean things well and be careful. You stand a bigger risk from hepatitis than HIV and even that is too remote a posibility to mention. Can I get infected with HIV at the salon (hairdresser)?
You have a better chance of winning Powerball twice in the same week.
if the razor has been properly sterilised, no. if no HIV blood got on the razor in the first place, also no.
I believe it's possible, but highly unlikely. If you are getting shaved with a straight razor, the barber should be cleaning and disinfecting the blade between uses.
If they use the same razor on all their clients without sterilizing it there is a chance you could get HIV if it ever cut someone else who had it. My advice would be to go somewhere where the employees always wear gloves and they throw out their razors after each use.
yes if da razor is from a person who is infected with HIV and da razor isn't cleaned
Yes, from unsterilized instruments which could have been contaminated by blood from cuts and which could out of carelessness be used again for someone else, especially if is immediately.
Theoretically one could get infected with HIV if the hairdresser reused a razor that was previously used on a HIV +ve individual. But nowadays no one reuses the razor blades, so I dont think it should be a cause for worry. Just ensure that your hairdresser uses a new razor if you are worried about this.
    ya. its a great risk

  • Do i still have a good future as a hairdresser if i leave school at the end of year 10?

Dude, you only have 2 more years left. Stick with it. Also, a lot of high schools have cosmetology programs that you can start in your junior year so you graduate with a cosmetology license.Do i still have a good future as a hairdresser if i leave school at the end of year 10?
Stay in school. You won't even get a job at McDonalds or WalMart without a high school diploma. SERIOUSLY! No beauty school or college will accept you without a high school diploma.Do i still have a good future as a hairdresser if i leave school at the end of year 10?

the hairstyle that you are thinking about it very mature, and your only 14. maybe the curls will suit, with a fringe. maybe with slightly straight bangs?

I would check those out, the site has tons of pics on it ;) get bangs they really help the large forehead, you also need to get a cut that isn't just one length and straight across, it doesn't shape your face well.

heres the site incase you didn't like those :)

    http://haircrazy.info/gallery/
get side bangs. that will make ur forehead look smaller. also get layers. ur hair it too straight cut at the bottom
get angles and layers and ask for it choppy that would give it a nice feathered look.
uhh dont put ur hair back like tht it only makes ur forehead look bigger

and u should get side swept bangs with choppy layers it's cute

    rtf plz

u should get red hair. ud look like lindsey lohan(before her insane hair dying spree) ...and my beautiful cousin :]

When my hairdresser does my highlights i still have about 1/2cm dark line of root? Why? am i gettin ripped off?

    Tipping a Hairdresser?

If a hairdresser works out of his/her home and I visit and receive services should I tip the hairdresser. If I do tip do I tip the same as I would ina salon (20%) or less?Tipping a Hairdresser?
I am a stylist, though I do not work out of my home or own my own business. The answer to this is yes you should tip the same as you would in a salon.

Personally where I work, (I make a commission some salons are different) more than basically half of what you are charged goes to the salon for products and overhead.

So whatever she/he is charging you also has to cover the cost of the scissors, the water, the electricity and any other chemical or product she uses on your hair.

That stuff is so expensive. Exspecially if she is not buying in bulk like a big chain would. You probably are paying a little less than what you would at a salon, and it is probably a nice freindly environment. So for her hard work and working out of her home, and of course if you are pleased with your hair then she deserves a tip.

But at the same time tips are optional. They are very much appreciated, personally as a stylist I do not require it. Obviousely service would not be turned away or someone would not be given a bad hair service because you didn't tip or gave a bad tip. I hope this helped!!Tipping a Hairdresser?
I usually tip 10-15% BEFORE Tax. BEFORE tax, that's the rub. 20% is more than substantial
yes. you shuld tip the same =]
    YES !

I work out of my home on occasion, and I charge very little. Working from home is actually harder because you usually end up squeezing people in to make a couple bucks and help someone out in the process. Many times I get calls about 'oh I just colored my hair and its all screwed up' and they want me to run to their rescue. Many people DONT think you should tip someone who works from home, or a business owner but to say its rude to do so is ridiculous ! I think some cheap butt made that one up ! The stylist is still working hard for you, and deserves a tip. 15-20% and if its extra time consuming go with the 20 for certain. The more products used, the time, her talent and expertise all goes into the tip. Besides if you need slid in for something important or because you screwed up your color yourself, she will be more than likely to oblige. There is this HUGE misconception that hairstylists are loaded. Quite frankly they live for their tips ! Imagine having a job where you didn't know how much your would clear at the end of the month? Some weeks are really good, others purely suck. So pass the word to all your friends. Tipping a stylist whether she does it from home or a salon, or owns or not, is a big, big, YES !
Yes you should tip the same as you would in a salon. This person is working out of his/her home and probably charging far less than they would have to in a salon, so tip well. It will likely still cost less than at a salon.
That's interesting... they say if the hairdresser owns the salon you shouldn't tip, but i think this is a bit different. Do what feels best. I'd probably tip.
yes u should tip your stylist!!!!
Traditional etiquette says that it's improper to tip a business OWNER, and anyone working out of their own home would be considered the ';owner'; of their business, but... I think it's always appropriate to follow your instincts.

Always tip for good service, especially if the service provider is employed by someone else. 15% is adequate (I always err on the plus side).
i would say if your hairdresser does a good job for you and you leave her feeling good you should tip her the same as you would in a salon. Especially if it is a favor for you that shes doing it from her home to begin with.

Dumb hairdresser messed up my hair?

This is from like two months back but I'm about to go get my hair cut again. Ok so when that hairdresser cut my hair, she completely messed my layers up. In the front, my hair poofs out in the middle. In the back, it poofs out at the bottom. I'm going to a different hairdresser/salon this time. How should I get my hair cut to get rid of the crap the first hairdresser did?Dumb hairdresser messed up my hair?
yea tell the new hair dresser what the last one did that you didn't like and ask them to fix it and bring pictures of what you want. thats the best way to be sure you get what wantDumb hairdresser messed up my hair?
I think you should get some taming products first and see how it looks then-otherwise get a new hairdresser-they say try to find a hair stylist who has the same type of hair as you because they understand how the hair acts and so forth.....
I think the poof looks really great if you are going for the whole scene thing (:

Well if you cut it more it will just probably make it poof even more, unless you wanna straighten it everyday.

I think you should let it grow more and if you dont have bangs yet you can add some to change the whole theme up.

My hairdresser says I have Jewish skin and eyes? What does this mean?

    I was at a hair stylist today, and while we were discussing what color my hair should be dyed, she said ';and that will be great because it will bring out your lovely Jewish skin';

I was a little dumbfounded (since I'm Italian, and Catholic plus, she didn't even know my name at that point), but ignored it.

    Then later on they offered me a free makeup application %26amp; I thought why not, and she said again something like ';and we'll use black to bring out your Jewish eyes';

I think this woman that said this was Jewish (I think she was wearing a star, but I'm not sure.) Why would she assume this? and also, why say it twice like that %26amp; what exactly is ';Jewish skin';?? light? dark?

Was she just trying to provoke a reaction in me? I got the feeling she kind of thought I was Jewish, wanted me to be, but wasn't sure %26amp; kept prodding.

What does everyone think? btw, I don't mean to offend anyone by anything I said, I just wonder if anyone Jewish or w/ similar experience has a comment. ThanksMy hairdresser says I have Jewish skin and eyes? What does this mean?
She probably thought you looked sephardic. But her statementshows her ignorance because there are ashkenazi and sephardi and we dont all look alike! My hairdresser says I have Jewish skin and eyes? What does this mean?
People are ignorant at times. Being Jewish is a choice--not an ethnicity. Jews can be of every skin or hair color. Just the same as any other religion.
    Are you jewish!
Most people think Jewish is a synonym for Middle Eastern, I don't know why. I've heard people say, ';I'm a fourth Jewish.'; They probably mean dark hair and eyes...
    katie,

    She's gay.
I hear that a lot, often from Jewish people. Perhaps she was Jewish and just didn't want to ask you directly if you were as well. Don't spend a lot of time thinking about it. I also get asked if I am Puerto Rican or Mexican. I am not Italian but my Italian friends are often mistake for other groups too.
Nothing, everybody sees somebody in you.
    HAIRDRESSER IS AN ***
It could just be that she equates olive-toned skin and dark eyes with people of Jewish heritage. Chances are that most of the people she knows with similar features to you are Jewish.
    Do your eyes cross when you sing hits from ';Funny Girl?';
she probably miss took your OLIVE complexion and ROMANESQUE nose for jewish features... it happens. what can you do?
    eat french frys
People just don't think straight sometimes. The same thing kind of happened to my sister while we were in California. She was on a bus and this lady kept asking her things about the cross my sister was wearing. We're methodist, so it was a methodist cross. My sister answered the questions and the lady finally said. ';You have pretty eyes and hair, you must be Jewish.'; Some people assume things by the way people look. For example my sister (the same one) has really dark hair, and brown hazel eyes, when she has a tan, and we try to go through the state boarders, it happened in san deigo, we were asked if we were smuggling her across. That was the strangest moment ever, since my mother went through this whole, 'I spent this much time in Labor' thing. People just automatically assume. That what's bad, because then it affects you and them and possibly others.
She means you squeak when you walk, and have eyes like dogs balls.
I'm Italian also, and I've been asked a lot if I'm Jewish or Hispanic. I just assume it's the dark hair and eyes. The skin I don't get though. I have never heard of anyone having Jewish skin before in my life.
I think she meant as a compliment. She may have some Jewish customers whom she admires for their skin and eyes. I admit Jewish girls are beautiful.

Just take it as a compliment. That's what I think
Do you have a New York accent?

    LOL

    I don't have a clue
    Since Jew refers to religion only the woman was completely off the mark. I can refer you to a book called the ';Myth of The Jewish Race';

where therein you will see visual documentation of Jewish people from around the world. The fact is that they most resemble the populations where they reside. There are some exceptions depending on migration patterns.
That just means you are very blessed.

I Corinthians 13;8a, Love never fails!!!!!
You must have olive skin and darker hair and eyes. People make themselves look stupid when they assume they know a person's heritage at a glance. My husband is Italian also, but is often mistaken for a puertorican.
take her comments with a grain of salt, she obviously is quite ignorant.
She sounds ignorant to me. WTF did she mean, ';jewish skin';? She obviously has some kind of stereotype issues in her brain, the kind of person who thinks that all Lations are dark skinnned and have dark hair, all Norwegians are blonde and all Africans talks like Eddi Murphy out of ';Coming To America';. Stupid idiot!
I think if she was trying to provoke you she would've said you had a jewish nose.
well maybe you smell like kannish.
there is no such thing as Jewish skin or eyes. that is stupid. that lady is crazy. next time ask her what Jewish skin is suppose to look like.
    Do you have jewish breasts?

    just curious.
    Your hairdresser is loony!
Don't worry too much about it. I'm really Taiwanese-American but once my mom's friend looked at me and said I look Persian. True, my nose is slightly different than anyone else in my family, but does that make me Persian? It was totally weird. I wouldn't worry about having ';Jewish'; features. It really doesn't mean anything. People don't always look like what race they are which is one reason I think discrimination is absurd. If someone hates ';blacks'; do they hate really tan Caucasian people as well? If that lady makes you feel uncomfortable then you can always go to a different hair stylist. It's really nothing to worry about!
Its a little weird- maybe she's Jewish and is looking for some Jewish friends, but doesn't know where to find any. I can't imagine a non-jew saying that.... still , it is a little odd. If you go back to see her, you could ask what exactly makes your eyes ';look Jewish.'; Or casually mention that your big Italian family is getting together for Christmas!

I should also mention that there are many different looking people who are Jewish! Some look Middle-Eastern, some look Northern European, some look Mediterranean...there are ALL DIFFERENT skin types, tones, noses, chins, eyes and hair.
    Time for a new hairdresser.
Extremely inappropriate comments - I don't care if you are Jewish or not. And the fact that she kept harping on it shows how truly ignorant she is. You have a choice - to go back to her (if she cuts hair really well) and point blank tell her that her comments were unsuitable in any circumstances; or find another salon. I think I'd go elsewhere.

  • My hairdresser messed up on my hair and bleached it way too much...?

So I went to a different place and put a toner on it to make it a darker shade of blonde. But then it is too dark now! Is there any way to make the toner fade faster? I'm getting married in a month and I want to have a normal colored blonde hair.My hairdresser messed up on my hair and bleached it way too much...?
You are too young to color your hair and you should'nt have gone to a hairdresser at all anyway for the time being try to cammoflague it by wearing a sun hat or something that gets along with your dress and after that the new hair will grow and your problem will be solved. Wish you a very, very happy married life.My hairdresser messed up on my hair and bleached it way too much...?
Ouch.. You have the Right to complain if you're not satisfied whit what the hair-dresser have done to your hair. You shouldn't waste any more money, but get the saloon you first went to, to make it better for free! Bleaching is really damaging to your hair, but i guess you already know that. My suggestion is that you leave it alone for now, so it doesn't end up looking a real mess at your big day. Get a hold of some good conditioner that can smooth down the frizz, and maybe put some flowers in your hair or something, braid it perhaps? I don't know which styles you prefer.. But don't worry to much about the color itself, a nice blond shade cant really take the focus away if your hair is frizzy and unmanageable.. And don't forget to wear a big big smile you lucky bride-to-be :)
Ask yourself this: What is more important, a wedding or a marriage?
when im not happy with my colours i use a anti dandruff shampoo straight away or even over the next few washes thier is an ingredient in this shampoo that releases colour quickly it works good luck
why did you stuff with it in the first place??

it couldn't possibly be mindless vanity?
Washing helps fading, but some colors just don't fade like you'd hope. Go back and have some highlights put in or something. Demand they do them for free since they screwed up your hair. Make sure it's not going to make your hair fall out first though.

Do you feel uncomfortable when the hairdresser shows you the back of you hair with an extra mirror?

I just smile inanely and feel really foolishDo you feel uncomfortable when the hairdresser shows you the back of you hair with an extra mirror?
yes, i just nod and go hmmm uhuh!!! lol - when i went recently - the hairdresser couldnt do this womans hair as she had a nit.....i would die more of embarrasement from that ..........Do you feel uncomfortable when the hairdresser shows you the back of you hair with an extra mirror?
Yes ain't it crap when they do that cos you don't really want to see the mess they made of the back of your head when you can already see the state of the front!! Them hairdresser's what are they like, they ask what you want doing then go ahead and do just what they want instead!!!

Sorry if I offend any hairdressers out there but I am talking from my own experience here, I never get a good haircut and some of the styles I've been given OMFG you have no idea, wore a wooly bobble hat for weeks I have , lol (just joking, sorry, just so bloody bored to tears tonight) anyway have a goodnight hope you get lots of answers and stars, have a star for your Question!! oops sorry, babbling aren't I?

Well isn't that how it makes you feel when they hold that mirror up to show you the back of ya head hahahahahaha!!!!!!
how else are you gonna see the back of your head!?!
no i would feel uncomfortable if she didn't lol!!
lol, i know. it feels sorta weird
    not really.....should i?
lmfao.....I get the feeling that when they do that im gonna see them open up a cut throat razor and make me watch as they carve me up..
yea i do..dont like it wen pple wait on me
Huh No, how else are you supposed to see the back of your head when you have your hair styled?
No I like it. The last thing I want is a $15 hair cut that looks like crap in the back!!
I'd be more uncomfortable going to a hairdresser in the first place.
Never went to one. My mom was my hairdresser who would braid my hair for me.
    haha kind of.
    yeah a little bit
no...but are u comfortable with the person....
    Why wouldn't I feel comfortable it's hair...
no i cut my own hair...dont trust hairdressers
I tell him, never mind, I trust you!
No when he doesn't show me I wonder what he has done with my hair.
Nope I don't feel uncomfortable at all..I want to see what the back of my hair looks like...
i smash the mirror and demand my face be unwrapped
I thought I was the only one who does that. I only go twice a year anyway.

    Hairdresser using my own colour?

my hairdresser is cut/colouring my hair tonight at home but she only has bleach to highlight my hair with foils. if I buy my own colour from tescos/boots etc will the effect be just as good as going to a salon? any ideas for good hair colour products will be appreciated. im a blonde if that helps.

    thanksHairdresser using my own colour?
the jerome russell highlighting kit is very good, i used it last night and love the results!Hairdresser using my own colour?
Irrespective of whether your hairdresser works in a salon or not, it's ridiculous for you as the client to be buying the hair dye!

She's the one with the specialised knowledge of hair colour and how to use it, so she really should be responsible for organising the products and this definitely includes the hair dye!

Either let her know that you're not happy with her using only bleach and tell her she must get the dye, or find another hairdresser who will be more professional!
its better to go to the hairdressers to have your hair coloured as there colours are much kinder to your hair as the ones from asda or tesco are not very good to your hair.!!!!!!!!!!

im a hairdresser myself and know these things, if your hairdresser is going to use bleach on your hair make sure its a low percentage like 6% and make and make sure your hairdresser does a hair strength test before hand to make sure your hair is not weak you can do this by getting one piece of haur and stand it up towards the roof and pull it with two hands and if it snaps your hair is showing to be very weak.

    hope my answer helps you!!!!!
I dont mean to be rude, but wouldnt your hairdresser tell you what to buy. The best person to ask is the one who is doing it. She should tell you where to get it, how much you'll need, and how much it will cost. If not I'd worry...
Why doesn't she purchase color at HER salon to use on you- the regular color that you like? This sounds odd to me. Okay so I read the later posting about not working in a salon. The best case scenario is that you two go together to a professional beauty supply- if she is licensed then she can purchase things in there. You can look at things together. If your friend in not licensed then I say go to a salon to another stylist.

cant see why not... you would need to buy that machine thought that bonds the hair, plus you would need a company to order the hair from. Let me know when you do cos mine need doing and I havent got the money at the mo!!
I'm sure you can still do it, you should try local hair dressers or collages for advise
Yes i think so but you might have to do the whole course as well.
I dont know if it is illegal in your state, but i do know in certain states, that performing services, such as cosmetology is illegal without your business license. I dont know if that includes extensions and such, or if its just chemicals like bleaching..i would research it more
Most companies that sell extensions and the equipment to apply them -- you can buy all of this on the internet -- will include an instructional video or DVD.

    Try http://www.glamourhair.com
i do my own hair extensions and other people i knows hair for them so i dont see why not, but i didnt train for it, i just picked it up from watchin my hairdresser do it for me before i started doin it myself.

  • Hairdresser or Medical Assistant which one would you rather be and Why?

hairdresser...i have always been into the cosmetology field..Hairdresser or Medical Assistant which one would you rather be and Why?
You could do better than that.Hairdresser or Medical Assistant which one would you rather be and Why?
I would probably rather be a Medical Assistant. I'm majoring in Animal Science and plan on going to vet school when I'm done, so it's closer to my profession.
Personally, medical assistant. But everyone is different. What can you see yourself doing later in life. What is more interesting to you. Consider all the pros and cons. I'd rather be a medical assistant because i am not good with hair and i want to do something in the medical field.

    I hope this helped!
I don't like women hairdressers. They are very nosy %26amp; gossipy. The men, I like. I, personally , couldn't have women hairdressers as co-workers. The Med. proffession is different. Still the same in many ways, but not as bad.

    hope this helps :)
its not that difficult.. i mean. just find a picture from a magazine, and cut it out, or rip the page out and show it to your hairdresser..

if you always get mad at the outcome, then i would suggest you go to a different hairdresser? lol
    1. Go on Google or something and sure ';side bangs'; or ';side swept bangs';.

    2. Print it out and take it to her :)

    (I hope the picture works)
If she always does the wrong thing and you always get mad, WHY DO YOU KEEP GOING BACK TO HER?????

Find someone who's hair you like, ask them the name of the salon and the hairdresser, and go there!
tell her u want side bangs that sweep to the side and if she messes up tell her that she always does this fix otherwise u shouldn't give her a tip or go to another lady
get a pic from a celebrity like...idk how long you want them or i would get a pic.

Where's a good hairdresser in Adelaide??

I have a 1 year old girl with lots of hair and I want to take her to a hairdresser where they are good with kids hair styles and that they take a little extra time to sit with us and discuss hairstyles. Does anyone know of any good hairdressers like this? We live south of Adelaide.Where's a good hairdresser in Adelaide??
Not sure about kids styles but a reputable salon on Unley or Goodwood road would be a good place to startWhere's a good hairdresser in Adelaide??

My hair is really thick how do i tell the hairdresser how i want it? just thin it out?

Ask for layers! Those are the key to thinning out long hair. Short layers are the best, although sometimes they make it difficult to put your hair up in a pony tail or bun because they get left behind. If you would like to avoid this problem, get medium to long layers that will thin out your hair! If you ask to ';thin it out'; your hairdresser will know what you mean.

good luck! :DMy hair is really thick how do i tell the hairdresser how i want it? just thin it out?
I wouldn't tell your hairdresser just to ';thin it out.'; Tell her specifically what look your looking for, because thinning out could also mean perming the hair too..

If you want your hair straight and thinner, I would ask for a ';bone straight'; style.. Tell her to flat iron it out.My hair is really thick how do i tell the hairdresser how i want it? just thin it out?
Yes, hopefully your hairdresser uses a razor instead of scissors. They'll know exactly what you mean if your hairdresser is good. I always have my hair razor cut and it helps a lot.
tell the hair dresser that you want to keep your length and just get it thinned out you can either have it razor cut or with thinning scissors. id like the razor look better.
    dont thin it

if i were you i would be so HAPPY i had thick hair

just get lairs so it seems that it is thinned down but its not actually
    layers everywhere with a razor

willl give it a thinner look but not tooo thin
Ask her to layer it and thin it out.
yeah just tell her to thin your hair.
